The day March 21, 2011, was a Life Changing day & moment in general. Jimmy Button and a great group of guys headed on a bike ride to help raise money to cure Spinal Cord Injury. It was a moment never to be forgotten.

I couldn’t sleep Sunday night, though I was tired, but after I prayed because my mind wrapped easily around Monday morning’s activities. I didn’t know exactly what to expect considering being on the “actual road” is a different story than training on a stationary bike is a different story. It’s also not just as easy to just “hop in the saddle like a road bike.” But my training that Mike Keating put me through was a laugh at the ride; huge bummer he wasn’t able to make it to my ultimate goal because of my ankle bouncing and almost causing a soar. But my trainer is proud of me, I know it I my heart. He is very inspiring and he gets lots of inspiration from the trainee. He says “I have the heart of a Lion.” And possibly his hardest working persons he’s ever worked with.

To put these miles I put in with only arm strength was worth more than anything I can think of right now. Considering my injury was quite a bit more severe than those in this “brother hood.” I originally couldn’t move a single muscle, then 1 month I began to work my right arm and wrist but it took 8 months to even raise my left shoulder against gravity. I can use my right arm “some” and can help me push around in my manual chair but still no wrist function.

We completed a little over 4 miles and I started to get a low tire and then noticed I may be getting a soar. I was upset to say the least, though I didn’t show it, but it was perfect with the sun in my face and breeze through my hair. I had plenty left in the tank to go another hour or a little over. But my time was up. They said it was very inspiring but through my eyes happy with my performance but unhappy to not reach the ultimate goal of 50M.

But the message I am trying to get across; We gave/give our lives to this motocross world and there is no union for us. But that’s another book of debating so no reason to go there. Look at your phone bill and how much do you pay for ringtones per monthly/yearly? It all adds up, but instead of looking cool because Lil Wayne is your ringer for a month, consider texting BIKE to 85944 to donate $5 and be in a drawing to win a Josh Hill San Manuel 450cc Yamaha. You can also make a donation or get more info by going to www.milesformiraclestoday.com to find the Cure to Spinal Cord Injury. Let’s change the world for a better next generation. But it can’t just be one of us; United we stand, Divided we fall
