New Ride School Coming Soon!

Your 5/7 riding tip with your host, "The Outlaw" James Marshall

How to: Hydrate

It has been one hot summer. Hydration has been imperative to survive in this heat. If not practiced and exercised regularly things could take a change for worse. Cramps, Charlie horses; if you’re here at this point, it’s too late. The best thing at this point is to load up and go home and rehydrate.

Water: this is a perfect starting point. With that being said eliminate all sodas, caffeine, energy drinks, etc. this does not mean to begin hydrating the day before your event. Think of it like this: how long does it take you to get physically prepared for a solid 20 minute moto in dead summer heat? I would say a good four months. The reasoning for this duration is because riding dirtbikes is no joke. So approach this topic by practicing hydrating daily.

Depending on how much you sweat, shoot for a gallon per day. The easiest way to monitor this is by getting a gallon jug of drinking water and it stays attached to your hip. Then simply refill it each evening and begin the following morning.

Gatorade/G2: you want a certain amount throughout the day depending upon exertion and body size and sweat glands. Water is ultimately the best for our bodies but you need to replenish with electrolytes, limited sugar, salt, etc. my observation on an average is 2 32ounce bottles of Gatorade or G2 to every .5 - .75 gallons of water.

Powerade: this is basically the same as Gatorade but every one person is different so experiment with your body in particular.

But to prolong a fun career or just a hobby, slip up and drink a coke/pop from time-to-time. Without implementing fun, go into the business world because MX is those looking to have a fun, safe experience while building memories. This includes “hydration.”

If you have school during the day then ride afterward, put water with an extra snack in your backpack.

We’ve had a fatality this summer due to dehydration, so please do not take this lightly.

Drink Up. God Speed Josh!
